Angel Of Death
The story isn’t outstanding but it’s still pretty damn good and Zoe is an excellent female lead action star. Probably the first of her kind to really dish out beatings and high impact physical action we’ve never really seen from a female lead. I think the closest has been TV’s Buffy the Vampire Slayer and B action movie star Cynthia Rothrock.
The opening scene should really grab you and if it doesn’t then you simply don’t like action movies. Without telling you too much, Angel of Death is about a female gangster named Eve who after a job gone bad and a mortal injury she somehow survives, goes rogue and turns on her employers. …at first glance, you’ll likely mistake her for Ellen Barkin.
When I saw this film only had a 5, I was reeeeally disappointed in my fellow viewers. The acting is good with only a couple weak moments in it’s entirety. The story is good and only slightly starts to sag towards the end just before picking back up. Best of all, the action is believable and she’s not some retard American, Hollywood A lister punching out a 200 lbs 6 foot stuntman with a single strike. She really works to win your respect and make you believe a woman this well trained and stone faced could beat these guys into the grave.
Bottom line is, this chick dishes it out like the glory days when martial arts films were still topping the box office and could really fill movie theater seats. With this being her first big debut in the B scene, I’d really like to see what she can do with an A list budget and script. Give her a Jackie Chan style feature film and she’ll be able to deliver.
